Observation Task 4: Development of Early Writing Skills
What developmental writing stages are the majority of the students in?
There are in the Strings of Letters stage. They begin to write some legible letters. They are beginning to understand the letter-sound relationship but are not accurately matching most sounds.
Describe and explain two (2) suggested strategies that the teacher can use to help the majority of the students within their developmental writing stage.
The teacher has to help them to go to the next stage. Next stage is Beginning of Sound Emergence. This stage; they begin to understand the differences between letters and words. Also, message matches the picture and makes sense.
The teacher has to start put the letter into word so the children can understand that ‘s the letter make the word and there are different. Read story for them and teach them that the picture link to the sentence. Then ask them to draw their favorite part in the story and write sentence about.
