Focus on Instruction
What did I see?
I noticed that you used different learning styles for the students. Their were two centers both of them has a hand on activities. In the beginning of the lesson the students were in a whole group, in the activity it’s been small group. The students were able to use cooperative learning when they were in the small group. They helped each other to do the sort the letters. During the actity time she was asking students question about what are they doing.
Focus on the learner
What did you see?
The learner action was between speaking in the carpet. Their were listing to the teacher and speak to answer her question or to repeat the letter sound after her. In the activity time their action was between working with hand-on materials and writing. They used their hand to sort the letter and wrote the letter. The student level was in comprehension, because they still try to understand that the letters n and I make the sound /i/, /n/. The students were well engage because their teacher doesn’t do hand-on activities.
Focus on Classroom Environment
What did you see?
Their work was displayed and that’s made them proud of their work. The materials were prepared for the student and they use the material independently with out the teacher help. They were move around the centers and the teacher doesn’t say any thing for them. Their was a hyperactive student moving around the class and not do the activity.
What do you think about it?
The student should be organized in the activity time. Also, you should provide a activity that’s appropriate with hyperactive student.
What does this mean?
You should to make a board has the list of the student name and the centers. Each center should only four students. When it’s the activity time; the students will not move between groups randomly but they will move as a system. Hyperactive students need to unload their energy in the activities, for example, the blocks or play dough.
